As CEO of Exceed Investments, LLC, Mr. Halpern is responsible for setting and managing the overall direction of the firm. Mr. Halpern founded Exceed in 2013 to offer structured investments with a level of standardization and efficiency unavailable in the market today.
Over a 20 year financial career, Mr. Halpern has structured, priced and traded billions of dollars in structured products, exotic derivatives and listed vanilla options in addition to managing trading groups, supervising risk management and participating in executive-level strategic initiatives.
Prior to founding Exceed Investments, Mr. Halpern was a director at Lamco, the asset management division of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. where he headed the exotic derivatives commodities book, was chief negotiator on a number of global bank settlements and was a lead member of a task force on structured products.
Prior to joining Lamco, Mr. Halpern was Director on the Equity Derivatives Trading desk of ING Financial Markets, a global financial institution, where he worked from 2007 to 2010. As a Director, Mr. Halpern was responsible for structuring, pricing and trading an array of exotic derivatives for the global sales force. Prior to joining ING, Mr. Halpern was SVP of Strategy and Risk for Kellogg Capital Group’s derivatives division.
From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Halpern was a partner at Halpern Capital, a boutique investment bank focusing on investment banking and trading services in addition to providing independent research to institutional clients.
From 1996 to 2002, Mr. Halpern was at Letco Specialists, since acquired by TD Securities, where he began his career as a derivatives trader. Mr. Halpern became the youngest partner at Letco Specialists. He was responsible for the IT build out for the east coast operations in addition to managing a trading division and a proprietary portfolio while acting as the primary market maker on the American Stock Exchange in a number of highly volatile, active derivative listings.
Mr. Halpern lives in New York City with his wife and three children.
As the CFO of Exceed Investments, Lawrence Solomon oversees strategic planning, capital expenditures, and overall administration for the firm, ensuring that we are at all times well positioned to provide investors and partners with cutting edge products and services.
Over a 15 year career in management consulting, corporate strategy, and entrepreneurship, Mr. Solomon has driven profitable growth at firms both large and small in the financial services space.
Prior to joining Exceed, Mr. Solomon worked at UBS Wealth Management as a Director in the Market Strategy and Analysis group. His mandate was to provide members of the Firm’s Executive Committee with guidance on overall firm strategy, client segmentation, and market and industry trends relating to the wealth management industry.
Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Solomon served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Spring Hill Capital Markets, a fixed income-focused boutique investment bank with expertise in the Structured Finance and Commercial Real Estate asset classes. In that role, he worked with the CEO to manage the overall growth and strategic direction of the advisory, broker / dealer, and investment management business lines.
Prior to joining Spring Hill, Mr. Solomon led Corporate Strategy for the Private Banking division of Lehman Brothers / Barclays Wealth Americas; his mandate was oversee strategic planning and project management for the division, with a focus on revenue growth, cost cutting, and sales management.
Prior to joining Lehman, Mr. Solomon worked at McKinsey advising major financial services firms on opportunities for revenue generation, market entry planning, and cost reduction.
In addition to his traditional professional experiences, Mr. Solomon founded and raised capital for an insurance business offering unemployment insurance; the company began selling policies in 2Q11. Backing for the venture was provided by several leading asset managers and a publicly traded insurance carrier.
Mr. Solomon currently resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife and three children.
Senior Sales Executive
As a Senior Sales Executive at Exceed Investments, Mr. Strauss is responsible for sales execution and branding of investment solutions to the advisor community.
Over a 29-year career of building trusted relationships with investment professionals, Mr. Strauss has achieved distribution success by serving as coach, mentor, and motivator. Mr. Strauss focuses on education as the foundation of his relationship with advisors, and often acts as a thought partner on advisor practice issues such as retention, acquisition, and wallet share.
Prior to joining Exceed, Mr. Strauss distributed structured products for both SIP America and JVB Financial Group. In these roles, he oversaw development of sales strategies to expand firm market share within this burgeoning asset class.
Prior to those roles, Mr. Strauss worked as a sales manager and wholesaler of mutual funds, ETFs and separately managed accounts at both BlackRock and AllianceBernstein. As a wholesaler, he developed and distributed to a wide network of advisors in the wirehouse, independent B/D, and RIA spaces. As a sales manager, he coached and mentored internal wholesalers and senior wholesalers to work hard, smart, and collaboratively.
Mr. Strauss began his career in capital markets with Prudential Securities. In this capacity he worked closely with advisors to market and allocate initial public offerings, secondary offerings, and closed-end funds.
Mr. Strauss graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Economics. He has earned the designation of Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and holds various securities licenses, including the Series 7 and Series 24. He currently resides in Ridgewood, NJ with his wife and two sons.
